Red Skies at Night, Motorists Take Flight

So my big plan was to take photos of cars heading towards downtown, with the skyline as a background. I was trying to get that classic stream of brake lights that comes from a long exposure. But it wasn't quite dark enough to get a really dramatic image. Plus I was shooting through a chain link fence, which didn't quite work out except for showing the fence itself.

So I was packing up, thinking I may have gotten the photo I wanted, when I noticed this sunset starting to ripen. I shot a few pix here and there of it, then took off in my car. I turned onto the highway from the overpass I was shooting on, and there this was in front of me. So I pulled over immediately on the on-ramp and set my hazard lights flashing. I got a couple of honks (not that I was really in anyone's way, that's just Chicago drivers), but wow was it worth it.
