Sorry about the title. Anyway. The magnolia in my back yard bloomed at almost exactly the same time this year as last. Something about that pleases me.

I think of magnolias as being very southern. You're not even in the south side of Chicago. The flowers remind me of the animated parts of Monty Python where a flower like this grows up, opens and then something weird comes flying out.
Have fun in NYC. If you can make it there you'll make it anywhere.
