ROOSEVELT TAMALE PARLOR

IMG_1174.JPG

At least one more from San Francisco as I settle back into Chicago. In a funky lil neighborhood west of The Mission on 24th street. Lotsa quirky old places/signs like this. I like that the name is not even remotely Mexican/Spanish, and the term "parlor". I also like (love) tamales, but had just consumed some serious donuts from the super-awesome Dynamo Donuts.

Great old sign! Like that too. Will you post some more old signs of this funky neighborhood?

Did Franklin Roosevelt like tamales? Eleanor? Theodore? I think of the latter Roosevelt invading Spanish speaking countries. Maybe he brought back some culinary booty.

I think it was Eleanor that liked tamales. Let's put some candles on one and sing at the top of our lungs,
"Happy Birthday To YOU!" I'm loving that sign by the way. Parlor?? I'm thinking they had more than tamales going on there.
