Big Sky, Sand

IMG_5468

And, back to Death Valley for a bit. My one prestated goal for the trip was to climb the highest dune in the central dune field, which I had never done on previous trips. I left my parents to wander on the perimeter, and hoofed it up there as quick as I could. Below is a video I took of me running down the steepest side of it. Note the pack of wild youth up there who kind of spoiled my solace at the top. Ahem. Well, I found it again on the hike back to the car. Having taken my boots off, wandering a bit more slowly and taking in scenes like the above. I also took a self portrait, which you can see here.

Well, actually, we were sitting in the car most of the time while I took pix of the dunes with a telephoto. Really like the sense of openness and I still think the video is pretty funny.

Sick shot, Mr. Caw Caw! Love the depth, composition, and how the colors are separated into discrete horizontal bands.
